What to know about this beach
The bay opens west, with its back to the trade winds. In Martinique the heavy strandings reach the Atlantic side first, where easterly winds drive rafts straight onto the shore. On this coast the swell arrives softened, and arrivals are the exception rather than the rule.

A wide mouth and a long beach mean that whatever does enter spreads across a broad front instead of piling into one pocket, so the same quantity looks thinner here than in a tight cove.
