Isla Verde faces north like the rest of this coast. The east and north-east trades that drive sargassum drift concentrate arrivals on Puerto Rico's eastern facade, so weed reaching this beach has usually cleared the island's north-eastern corner first and then travelled west, which makes episodes less regular here.
The reef offshore adds a local nuance.
