What to know about this beach
Two things decide how much weed this cove sees. The first is its northward aspect: the easterly wind sweeps along the shore rather than into it, so mats riding the trades arrive here with less push behind them than on the east-facing beaches of the same parish.
The second is the reef across the mouth. It softens the swell and keeps the inshore water flat, which is pleasant to swim in and poor at flushing anything out. Weed that finds its way over the shallows tends to stay in that slack water instead of being dragged back offshore. Because the beach is short and boxed in by low points, even a small deposit is obvious underfoot, where a long bay would spread the same volume thin.
